The Legend ofTelaga Sarangan (Telaga Pasir)

The name of Telaga Sarangan came from a couple Kyai Pasir and Nyai Pasir. They were a couple in a small village near Lawu Mountain. One day, Kyai Pasir went to the forest to cut a tree. Before cutting it, Kyai Pasir saw en egg laid closed by the tree. Kyai Pasir then took a look at the egg deeply and finally decided to bring it home. Arriving at home, he gave it to Nyai Pasir. Getting it, Nyai Pasir boiled the egg, and then ate it with Kyai Pasir.
After eating the egg, Kyai Pasir went back to the forest to continue his job. But, something strange happened, he got a fever and headache, his body temperature was quite high, and was sweaty. This sudden pain made him not able to control his balance. He finally fell down. He rolled over on the ground many times, and he suddenly became a bad big dragon.
At the same time, Nyai Pasir also got a fever and headache, so she tried to find his husband. Arriving there, she was quite surprised when knowing a big scary dragon. She was quite surprised and wanted to run away, but because of the pain, she fell down on the ground. She got the same as her husband. She became a big dragon. Finally, both big dragons rolled on the ground for a long time and caused a big and wide hole, and water splashed hard from the ground. A few minutes later, the big wide hole changed into a big lake. The lake was, then, famaous as Telaga Pasir because it formed from Kyai Pasir’s land.
